Oyster Roast

What a great weekend!! Rob and I enjoyed a quiet, kid-free evening at the Ducks Unlimited Oyster Roast on Friday night. If you've never been to one, the big-busted women selling raffle tickets become instant leaches to the men with the money. It's a hoot! Anyway, after eating 5+ dozen oysters, I retired to just sample the rest of the menu that was to be the main course, oh well=) We went in with several other guys from Rob's work to buy books of raffle tickets. Messing around, we randomly dropped our stubs in various buckets never thinking that we'd actually win anything. After the live auction (we bought yet another Jim Killen print) it was time for the silent auction items to be announced. My husband, who never wins ANYTHING, racked up!!! First he won a Greenwing Camouflage watch that will soon make its way to eBay since my 12 year old didn't want it, next he won a set of 3 duckstamp prints matted and framed in black wood with plaques. The came the creme-de-la-creme....the Hunter's Package!! We weren't even listening when the numbers were called for the all-in-one big shabang: a 300 mag rifle with scope, a deerstand, a giftcard to the local hunter's hardware store, and a duck bag!! We figure he's been to 20 years worth of banquets having never won anything (except live auction stuff), so this is a reward that statistically has been coming for some time now. Yeah, Rob!
